Zurich Financial Services Australia (Zurich) has extended its 12-month backing for the Australian mental health charity, Mr Perfect.

The grassroots organisation facilitates casual gatherings nationwide, fostering conversation and connections among men.

Zurich’s commitment to supporting mental health initiatives in Australia and New Zealand encompasses various charities in the mental health sector, with Mr Perfect being one of them.

The renewal coincides with the release of a recent National Study of Mental Health and Wellbeing, revealing that approximately one in five Australian males experienced a 12-month mental disorder during the period of 2020-2022.

“We know that mental health conditions are on the rise, and that reluctance to seek help disproportionately affects men. A recent national study found 21.6% of females in Australia saw a professional for their mental health compared with just 12.9% of males,” she said. “Zurich is committed to improving the accessibility of mental wellbeing programs in the community.”

Mr Perfect CEO John Mooney highlighted the organisation’s role as an entry point into mental health awareness and support in the community.

“With Zurich’s support, Mr Perfect has been able to uplift its offering and reach in recent years. We are excited for another year of support and the continued impact this will have in the community,” he said.
