World Travel Protection (WTP) has promoted Alerah Turner, who has been with the company for nearly 20 years, to chief operating officer (COO).

Turner has held various senior leadership roles across WTP over the years, most recently as director of global provider networks (3.5 years). She has been instrumental in creating and implementing the WTW GlobalCare Network of over 85,000 providers and has led the company’s transition to a global operating model to align its operations across Australia, North America, and the UK.

Before joining WTW in 2004, Turner was an insurance specialist at WTP’s parent company, Cover-More Travel Insurance.

WTP COO’s responsibilities

Turner will relocate from Sydney to London to lead the Uxbridge Command Centre and provide strategic and operational direction to the company’s global emergency assistance command centres. She will also focus on driving productivity and ensuring quality standards are maintained to best serve internal stakeholders and external customers.

WTP CEO Adrian Leach highlighted Turner’s extensive leadership experience in travel risk management and overseas medical management and services.

“Throughout her tenure at WTP, Alerah has consistently demonstrated an outstanding ability to drive performance and successfully implement organisational strategies,” Leach said. “Alerah possesses a profound understanding of the assistance and travel insurance industry, in addition to regulatory environments and contractual processes.”

Turner said: “I am passionate about driving operational excellence and delivering results to ensure the safety of our travellers. I’m excited to continue working with the talented team at WTP to build on their impressive track record of delivering exceptional service and value to our customers and clients.”
