Major broker Westland Insurance has further expanded its footprint with the acquisition of F.A. Smith Insurance Service in Alberta, allowing the group to better serve clients in Fort Saskatchewan, Lamont, and Smoky Lake.

F.A. Smith Insurance Service, a property and casualty brokerage, has been operating in the home, auto, farm, and business insurance markets for over five decades. As a family-owned business, it has cultivated deep ties with local communities.

“This community focus, along with their commitment to providing exceptional client experiences, with tailored risk management solutions, made a partnership with Westland a natural fit,” Westland highlighted. “Both organizations share a strong dedication to giving back and supporting the communities they operate in.”

Westland president and chief executive Jamie Lyons (pictured) was “very pleased to welcome” the company’s latest acquisition to the fold.

“This team of insurance professionals with extensive experience and local engagement will be invaluable as we continue to grow and serve the insurance needs of Albertans,” he said. “This acquisition aligns extremely well with our strategic intent to expand our presence across the country.”

“This partnership not only strengthens our market presence but also underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional insurance advice and options to the broader Alberta community,” Lyons noted at the time. “Alberta Best’s dedication to exceptional client service also aligns with our core values, and we’re confident that this will bring immense value to our Albertan clients.”
