Wawanesa Mutual Insurance names new vice president for Ontario P&C

Most recently serving as AVP of sales and distribution at Definity Financial Group, Williams-Bonet has held several leadership roles throughout her career. She has an executive MBA from Quantic School of Business, as well as an honours bachelor of arts from Carleton University.

“Together with our broker partners, we want to serve more Ontario businesses, farms and families,” said Wawanesa president of Canadian P&C operations Carol Jardine. “Susan is well respected across Ontario, and the right person to build on our recent successes.”

Jardine added that she is honored that Williams-Bonet chose Wawanesa, especially at an “exciting time” for the company, when it recently introduced a new suite of personal property products aimed an energy efficiency and climate resilience, and plans to launch a revamped farm insurance product next year.

“Her history of working with mutual companies means she knows the unique value mutuals offer,” the president said. “She will be a strong advocate for us and our broker partners in Ontario.”

Last month, Wawanesa’s SVP and chief legal and governance officer, James Bond, was recognized as one of the Outstanding LGBT+ Executive Role Models, supported by Yahoo Finance. Bond has been involved in 2SLGBTQ+ and other diversity, equity and inclusion organizations throughout his entire career, and it was under his leadership that the insurer launched its first 2SLGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group.
