Vesttoo hires Hiscox’s Schonbrun as Chief Legal Officer, former SEC Counsel as Deputy
Vesttoo has made two senior hires in its legal function, adding former Hiscox executive David Schonbrun as Chief Legal Officer and a former Senior SEC Counsel Daniel Goldfried as his Deputy.
Vesttoo, the insurtech that uses proprietary artificial intelligence and machine learning to help companies assess and transfer risks to the capital markets, with a particular focus on non-catastrophe insurance-linked securities (ILS), continues to add all-important depth to its executive bench.
These two new hires will manage Vesttoo’s legal and regulatory operations in the US and globally, at a time of expansion for the company.
David Schonbrun, as Chief Legal Officer at Vesttoo, will lead the firms legal department and on regulatory matters, assisted by Daniel Goldfried, who joins the company as Deputy Chief Legal Officer.
Schonbrun will lead all legal and regulatory aspects of Vesttoo‘s global operations, and coordinate the legal teams across Vesttoo’s operations and offices worldwide.
Goldfried, as Deputy Chief Legal Officer, will be tasked with leading the regulatory compliance framework associated with the capital markets, according to the laws of the United States and other jurisdictions in which Vesttoo operates.
Schonbrun joins Vesttoo from specialty insurance and reinsurance group Hiscox, where he was most recently Senior Vice President, Head of Legal and Government Affairs, and Secretary at Hiscox USA.
He had worked at Hiscox for thirteen years, prior to which he has a long legal career, with a particular focus on insurance and reinsurance markets.
Goldfried was most recently General Counsel of multibillion-dollar asset manager Chatham. Prior to that he has been a Senior Counsel at the SEC and also held senior positions at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, including Senior Vice President, Regulatory Law.
“It gives me great pleasure to announce the addition of David and Dan to our team,” Yaniv Bertele, CEO and Founder of Vesttoo commented. “Both have unmatched professional experience that will in no doubt serve to propel Vesttoo forward. David’s expertise in Insurance law, as well as his invaluable experience in managing legal teams, will form the legal foundation for Vesttoo’s expanding global presence. Dan’s inner knowledge of the SEC will be a significant boon to our regulatory and compliance efforts. I’m proud to say that both see Vesttoo’s potential and are committed to the Vesttoo vision.”
“I am delighted and proud to join Vesttoo as its Chief Legal Officer,” Schonbrun said. “The insurance-linked securities and investment industry is an increasingly important business sector, in which Vesttoo is moving forward by leaps and bounds. The business already has achieved much, and I look forward to partnering with my colleagues to expand Vesttoo’s operations and do my part to bring about its further success.”
“I am thrilled to join the Vesttoo team,” added Goldfried, Vesttoo’s Deputy CLO. “I believe their efforts to broaden investor access to Life and P&C insurance investments will have a mutually beneficial effect on the insurance and business industries, and am excited to help the team execute on its vision.”
Vesttoo continues to build-out its insurance-linked investment offering. We recently interviewed Portfolio Manager Rob Hauff who explained how Vesttoo is working to unlock new categories of insurance and reinsurance risk for capital market investors.
