Vesttoo, the insurance-linked securities (ILS) focused insurtech company, has made another key hire, bringing onboard former Aeolus Capital Management analyst James Anfossi as a Portfolio Manager based in Bermuda.

Anfossi bring expertise in reinsurance, retrocession and industry-loss warranties (ILW), as well as in catastrophe risk analysis, pricing and investment selection for ILS fund portfolios.

He’s joined Vesttoo as an Assistant Vice President and Portfolio Manager, which will presumably see him helping the ILS focused insurtech in building and managing portfolios of insurance and reinsurance-linked investments for third-party institutional capital providers.

Anfossi has worked in insurance and reinsurance since 2010, having begun his career with a series of internships on the underwriting and actuarial side, before joining AXIS Capital in 2016 where he honed his craft as a catastrophe and risk modelling analyst.

He then joined Fidelis in 2018, working as a risk analyst and gained an understanding of ILS fund metrics in that role.

Then, in 2021, Anfossi joined the reinsurance and retro specialist investment manager Aeolus Capital Management, where he worked as an analyst for over a year and a half, leaving the ILS manager in September 2022 and then joining Vesttoo this month.

As Vesttoo builds out its capabilities, a portfolio manager based in Bermuda will sit well alongside the insurtech’s setting up of a collateralized insurer class of company on the island, with Vesttoo Alpha P&C Ltd. set to play a pivotal role in the companies platform and offering of P&C insurance returns to investors.

Vesttoo recently announced the completion of a Series C funding round sized at $80 million.
