The Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) elected the following individuals to the 2024-2025 VCIA Board: Julie Bordo of PCH Mutual Insurance Company; Joe Carter of United Educators, re-elected for a second term; Aaron Ciullo of Marsh Captive Solutions; Gail Newman of Bright Horizons, re-elected for a second term; and Brenda Stewart of AIG.

After the conclusion of its 39th Annual Conference, which featured a strong turnout and quality captive education and networking opportunities, VCIA also initiated its 2024 Annual General Meeting, where members approved the 2023 AGM Minutes and Financial Statements.

VCIA CEO Kevin Mead congratulated the newly elected board members, noting their skill, expertise, and recognition within the captive industry.

He expressed the association’s enthusiasm for retaining two experienced professionals and welcoming three new members to the board.

During the conference, the VCIA board also approved the following leadership appointments for the upcoming year: Gail Newman as board chair, Joe Carter as board vice chair, Jason Palmer as board treasurer, and Melinda Young as board secretary.

Newman, vice president of risk management at Bright Horizons and the newly appointed board chair, acknowledged the trust placed in her by fellow board members and expressed her commitment to leading VCIA forward.

Carter, the newly elected board vice chair and vice president of business development and UE experience at United Educators, highlighted the importance of captives in supporting their members and viewed his new role as an opportunity to serve a diverse group of self-insurers nationwide.

The VCIA staff and board also extended their thanks to the outgoing board members—Andrew Baillie, Lawrence Cook, and Derick White—for their contributions over the years.

The next VCIA board meeting is scheduled for October, where the focus will be on incorporating stakeholder feedback and further developing VCIA’s strategic plan as the association approaches its 40th anniversary in 2025.
