A six-decade old agency is bringing in a new CFO to handle the firm’s financial compliance needs.

The MJ Companies has announced the appointment of Brian Stoll as its new chief financial officer, with the responsibility of steering the firm through its next phase of growth and innovation, encompassing financial management, compliance, communication, and strategic planning.

Additionally, he was named as a key figure for The MJ Companies executive leadership team.

Before joining The MJ Companies, Stoll was the CFO at Fox Restaurant Concepts, where he played a key role in the company’s growth from a startup to a prominent restaurant group with multiple brands and locations across the United States.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, and raised in Phoenix, Stoll is a Northern Arizona University alumnus with degrees in accounting and Spanish. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Stoll is actively involved in the community, including his work with the Thunderbirds and his past role as a board member for the Arizona Humane Society.

Stoll shared his enthusiasm for joining The MJ Companies, emphasizing his alignment with the firm’s values of offering high-quality services while maintaining a strong commitment to its associates and clients.

“I hope to continue to foster these great company values, as well as bring my experience working at a high-growth, large company since its infancy to help MJ continue its history of success,” Stoll said.

Stoll’s appointment follows another high-profile hiring for the agency, with The MJ Companies naming Breanna Evans as new director of population health and wellness.

Friend retires

In his new role, Stoll succeeds Brian P Friend, who is transitioning toward retirement after a 24-year tenure at The MJ Companies. Friend will remain involved to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities through the end of the fiscal year, after which he will continue to contribute as a financial consultant.

Reflecting on his retirement, Friend expressed his enthusiasm for more family time, travel, and community service.

“The future of The MJ Companies is bright, and I have every confidence in Brian Stoll and know he will continue to lead MJ with passion and integrity,” Friend said.
