Workers’ comp insurer Texas Mutual, along with its newly established health-focused subsidiary, has revealed the subsidiary’s name, now branded as Texicare.
Pending regulatory approval, Texicare aims to roll out health insurance plans in the second quarter of the upcoming year. The subsidiary has been crafted to devise and provide healthcare solutions that cater to the distinct requirements of Texas businesses, their employees, and their families.
Texicare will focus on delivering solutions that enhance access to affordable, user-friendly, and high-quality healthcare for both Texas businesses and their employees. The company also aims to supply small businesses with health coverage solutions at a reduced cost through fixed monthly premiums. This approach seeks to alleviate the healthcare management burden for businesses and offer more responsive healthcare options for their employees.
The Texas Legislature granted authorization in 2021 for Texas Mutual to establish a subsidiary capable of extending health insurance or alternative health benefit coverage to Texas businesses. Subsequently, in 2022, the Texas Mutual board of directors sanctioned the creation of this subsidiary and appointed Meredith Duncan as its CEO.
“Keeping true to Texas Mutual’s core values, Texicare will focus on integrity, high-quality service and respect for individuals,” Duncan said. “By bringing a range of innovative healthcare options to business owners, we aim to change the healthcare ecosystem for the better, helping to create healthier and happier Texans.”
