Texas Mutual hands out $3.5 million in grants

Workers’ compensation insurance provider Texas Mutual Insurance Company has announced the recipients of grants from its second request for proposal (RFP) of 2022. More than $3.5 million in grants have been awarded to nearly 50 organizations to support workforce development and safety training.

The grants are part of the company’s larger commitment of $7 million in RFP grant funding to non-profits. The grants are given in two categories: generational learning to support working families and workforce development and safety training.

“We are inspired by the dedication these non-profits have for strengthening the Texas workforce,” said Jackie Sekiguchi, community affairs manager at Texas Mutual. “This funding helps organizations that are delivering critical programs in workforce development and safety training, and we’re proud to support them.”

Recipients received the grants for their focus on:

Training the current and future workforce in safe work practices, particularly in higher-risk industries and occupations
Creating strong pathways for in-demand, middle-skill jobs
Upskilling and reskilling adult learners through “earn-and-learn” initiatives

To be eligible for the grants, organizations were required to be based in Texas, be a 501(c)(3) organization, and be able to demonstrate that they were delivering assistance and services to Texas communities in the required focus areas, Texas Mutual said.

A full list of grant recipients is available on Texas Mutual’s website.

The grants are the latest recognition given out by Texas Mutual. Last month, the company recognized top-tier workplace safety programs with its Platinum Safety Partner Awards.
