Texas Mutual employees volunteer 808 hours for Week of Giving
Employees organized donated items for families at the Central Texas Food Bank’s warehouse, performed property beautification at Community First Village, made lunch for families at the Ronald McDonald House, assembled toiletry kits for Goodwill Central Texas and made more than 200 goodie bags for Dell Children’s Medical Center, Texas Mutual said.
Dallas employees started the Week of Giving with an event supporting Community Partners of Dallas, Irving Cares Food Pantry, SPCA of Texas and ChildCare Group. Employees also helped clean veterans’ headstones with the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery service project, worked with Cath Up & Read to beautify the garden at Richard Lagow Elementary School, and distributed food at the Wilkinson Center.

The Houston office began the week by volunteering with Attack Poverty to paint the exterior of a home damaged by Hurricane Harvey. Houston employees also made health and safety-focused classroom kits for Shadow Oaks Elementary School, decorated lunch bags for Kids’ Meals and sewed Santa sacks for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Houston, Texas Mutual said.
Lubbock employees made baked goods for families at the Ronald McDonald House of the Southwest, sorted clothes for a foster family event by Caleb’s Closet, and walked dogs for The Haven Animal Care shelter. At the end of the week, the Lubbock office held a family-friendly volunteer event to support the Volunteer Center of Lubbock. Employees and their families decorated bags for Meals on Wheels, assembled “fight the flu” kits and healthcare bags, and made fleece blankets.
Texas Mutual held the Week of Giving in partnership with the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF).
Texas Mutual is the largest workers’ compensation insurance provider in Texas. The company recently awarded $3.5 million in grants to non-profits focused on workplace development and safety.
