Suncorp’s HQ lit purple for UN’s Elimination of Violence Against Women day

Suncorp’s Brisbane headquarters was lit up in iridescent purple on Friday to commemorate the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Suncorp has partnered with charity Zephyr Education, which aids domestic violence shelters to provide a fast turnaround for children who have relocated and need to return to school, providing uniforms, books, laptops, tablets, backpacks and lunchboxes.

Co-founder and President Isabella Bevan says Christmas is the busiest time of year and Zephyr volunteers have to triple their efforts over the holiday season.

Suncorp is collecting lunchboxes from employees who wish to donate to children affected by violence over the next week.

“Help from Suncorp makes an unbelievable difference to our resources,” she said. “Setting a child up with the right resources for school is critical. If the children settle in well at their new school, their mothers are less likely to return to an abusive partner.”

Zephyr is one of Suncorp Group’s 14 local charity partnerships.
