Suncorp Group (Suncorp) has claimed to be the first to achieve Australia’s greenest certification for its state-of-the-art Brisbane head office, Heritage Lanes.

Green Star is an internationally recognised rating system developed by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA). It sets the standard for healthy, resilient, positive buildings, and places.

Heritage Lanes

Built in partnership with Mirvac M&G, Heritage Lanes spans 35 levels and is designed for 7,000 employees. Its technology, sustainability, and design made it one of Australia’s smartest buildings.

The Brisbane-based office is Suncorp’s first “post-COVID workplace,” having launched in early 2022. It aims to create a future-ready office environment that aligns with the group’s sustainability, workplace flexibility, and innovation goals.

Maurice Gallagher, head of real estate at Suncorp, congratulated Mirvac and M&G for achieving the 6 Star Buildings rating for Heritage Lanes.

“At Suncorp, we are very conscious of doing everything we can to proactively reduce our environmental footprint and operate more sustainably, and Mirvac’s own sustainability plans and aspirations were a significant influence on Suncorp’s decision to choose Heritage Lanes as our new headquarters,” he said.

Gallagher said that the design of the workplace has been integral in enhancing employee experience post-COVID-19.

“We know the role of the office has changed since the pandemic – and Heritage Lanes is so much more than a place you just go to work,” he said. “We aimed for a workplace that could adapt to future needs, supported by a wealth of new tech and sustainability features and thoughtfully designed spaces that make it an attractive and comfortable place to work. It symbolises connection and community and allows for greater team collaboration and flexibility to support our hybrid working model, offering staff more choice for how, when, and where they work.
