Starwind Specialty Insurance Services, part of the CRC Group, has expanded its team with two key new hires.

Tony McIntosh has been named program president at Starwind Specialty, focusing on creating new insurance programs primarily for the cannabis industry. With over two decades of experience in the insurance sector, McIntosh’s expertise spans retail property and casualty brokerage as well as extensive experience in delegated underwriting. He has been recognised with several industry awards, including the Insurance Business America Hot 100 Award in 2023, 2022, and 2020, and the Insurance Business Global 100 award in 2022.

Joining him at Starwind Specialty is Eric Morrison, who takes on the role of executive vice president. Morrison brings over 20 years of experience and has been instrumental in the development of various delegated underwriting authority programs. Notably, he has developed one of the largest grocery insurance programs in the nation and has been a key figure in launching an emerging cannabis insurance initiative. Morrison’s previous role was in executive leadership at a leading cannabis managing general agency.

Brian Norman, president of Starwind Specialty, commented on the new hires, and said: “With Tony and Eric joining us, we have strengthened our team’s foundation significantly. Their knowledge and experience will drive our company’s innovation and competitiveness, particularly in niche markets like cannabis.”

Kunal Gulati, executive vice president at Starwind, also praised the new additions, noting, “Tony and Eric have demonstrated success in managing specialty business and have consistently shown their commitment to outstanding client service and the development of effective distribution networks.”
