Insurance broker SkyWatch has introduced a liability-only insurance product specifically designed for pilots aged 70 and above. The new offering addresses the difficulties older pilots often face when trying to secure affordable, comprehensive coverage, enabling them to continue flying with essential liability protection.

The development of the product stemmed from extensive discussions between the insurance broker and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). The conversations highlighted the unique challenges experienced by seasoned aviators, leading to a collaborative effort to create a solution that allows them to meet mandatory insurance requirements to be able to fly.

The insurance option, available through SkyWatch’s online platform, offers flexible coverage choices and instant quote generation, ensuring senior pilots can continue their aviation activities without undue financial strain.

AOPA president and CEO Mark Baker praised the initiative, stating: “This offering is a game-changer for our senior members. We’re pleased to see SkyWatch addressing a critical need in the market, allowing our seasoned pilots to stay in the skies safely and affordably.”

In late 2023, SkyWatch acquired the assets of Droneinsurance.com.

At the time, Kashi noted: “Droneinsurance.com has been a driving force in the industry, and we have always respected them as one of the first players that genuinely cared about the market and customers, striving to bring meaningful innovation.

“This acquisition represents not just a business decision, but a commitment to elevating the standards of drone insurance for all operators so they can focus on their mission with confidence.”
