Global specialty insurer and reinsurer SiriusPoint has appointed Nestor Lopez to its executive leadership team to serve as chief technology officer.

Prior to his promotion, Lopez reported to outgoing CTO Darryl Siry in his capacity as chief information officer. In a release, SiriusPoint said Siry is leaving after a handover period at the end of June to pursue other opportunities.

“Darryl leaves with our best wishes for the future: the IT function and team have thrived under his leadership, and he has been a valuable and active member of the executive leadership team,” commented chief executive Scott Egan.

The CEO also stated: “The quality and accessibility of our data is central to SiriusPoint’s strategy and best-in-class aspirations. I look forward to continuing to work with Nestor as we further develop our data and tech capabilities. It is a pleasure to announce his promotion and to recognise the talent we have at SiriusPoint.”

Lopez, who came on board the company in 2022, previously worked at ProSight Specialty Insurance (now Coaction Specialty Insurance), CNA Insurance, Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, and General Electric. His credentials span two decades of business transformation experience.
