Global specialty re/insurer SiriusPoint has announced the hiring of three seasoned professionals to bolster its global underwriting operations.

Christopher Larson (pictured above, left) steps into the role of global head of casualty in New York, while David Godlis (pictured above, middle) takes on responsibilities as underwriting strategy and analytics lead, also based in New York. Additionally, Ramiz Mohamed (pictured above, right) has been appointed as global head of exposure management in London.

Larson’s tenure began on March 4, where he was tasked with spearheading the global strategy for casualty underwriting and product development, alongside managing the casualty reinsurance division. His role involves collaboration with the company’s North American and international units to implement the casualty product strategy across direct insurance and program business sectors.

Larson joins from BMS Group, where he served as managing director and co-head of casualty, following a near 25-year tenure at QBE Reinsurance Corporation and beginning his career at AIG in New York.

Godlis joined the team on February 26, 2024, tasked with leading initiatives focused on underwriting profitability, return on capital, performance management, and capital allocation, all aimed at shaping SiriusPoint’s global underwriting strategy. He transitions to SiriusPoint from Jefferies, where he contributed to the power and infrastructure investment banking team, after holding multiple roles in risk and portfolio management at AIG.

Finally, scheduled to commence his role on April 15, 2024, Mohamed will oversee the development and implementation of global portfolio and exposure risk management and reporting strategies. He brings with him over a decade of experience in the realm of insurance and reinsurance portfolio management, pricing, and reserving. He moves from Hiscox, where he managed casualty exposure management among other roles, following a stint at XL Catlin in various actuarial positions.

In his new role, Larson is set to report to David Govrin, SiriusPoint’s group president and chief underwriting officer. Meanwhile, Godlis and Mohamed will be under the guidance of Anthony Shapella, deputy chief underwriting officer at the company.

“These appointments demonstrate SiriusPoint’s commitment to attracting the industry’s best talent. Chris, David and Ramiz are leaders in their areas of expertise, and they will advance our continued progress to becoming a top-performing underwriting company,” Govrin said.

Shapella, meanwhile, emphasized the expected impact of these hires on the company’s global strategy.

“We are looking forward to strengthening our global chief underwriting office with the appointments of David and Ramiz. Ramiz is an experienced actuary and industry leader in exposure management and David is a top-notch performer who brings high quality and rigor to the analysis of our global insurance portfolios,” Shapella said.

The appointments come as SiriusPoint continues to expand its global team, targeting growth within key business areas, and follows the recent inclusion of Chris Fenn as head of marine, London, and John Hopper as head of energy.
