Sedgwick has combined its construction and engineering services teams in Australia, with Andre Mataia to lead the team.

Mataia (pictured), who joined Sedgwick as head of construction for Australia in March 2023, has more than 22 years of experience working for insurers and loss adjusting firms in Australia and New Zealand. He specialises in material damage, engineering, and construction work and has managed and adjusted a portfolio of complex and high-value claims across various industries, including retail, energy, manufacturing, and construction.

New role

Under his new role, Mataia will continue to lead the construction team while leading the engineering department as both teams combine.

Kimberley Daley, executive general manager of Sedgwick in Australia, said Mataia will enable Sedgwick to continue providing strong service across the country.

“Andre has the expertise and vision to lead our newly consolidated engineering and construction division,” Daley said. “His oversight will play a crucial role as we look to expand our services.”

Mataia said: “As we target further growth in Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region, I am honoured to take on this new role. Our combined team of construction and engineering loss adjusters have unparalleled expertise, and joining forces will allow us to bring our multidisciplinary solutions and technical skills to address an even wide range of clients’ claim challenges.”
