SCOR appoints global leader for environmental impairment portfolio
SCOR has announced the appointment of Emma Bartolo (pictured above) as global segment leader for its environmental impairment liability (EIL) insurance portfolio.
Bartolo will join the company in February and will be based in London. She will report to Marie Biggas, chief underwriting officer of SCOR UK and active underwriter for the SCOR Syndicate, and Daniel Carreras, global line head for specialty and casualty.
Bartolo joins the company from Chubb, where she most recently served as London corporate regional manager. Before that, she held a number of senior positions at Chubb, including environmental risk manager for the UK and Ireland. A strong advocate for diversity and inclusion, Bartolo chaired the Gender Equality Network at Chubb.
Prior to joining the insurance industry, Bartolo worked as a consultant at WSP Environment and Energy and as a technical officer for contaminated land for the Manchester City Council. She has written a number of industry publications on environmental insurance and is considered a leader in the field, SCOR said. She holds a master’s degree in pollution and environmental control and a bachelor’s degree in geology and geography from the University of Manchester.
“Emma is an extraordinarily talented environmental risk specialist,” Biggas said. “Her deep knowledge of the field and her collaborative approach to leadership will be instrumental in driving the growth of our EIL portfolio. It is always a pleasure to welcome professionals such as Emma who have a real passion for their area of expertise.”
“This appointment underscores our commitment to providing leadership in this important line of business,” Carreras said. “We are proud to be able to attract talented individuals to the team here at SCOR. Emma’s strong scientific background is extremely impressive, and her exceptional underwriting capabilities will ensure that we continue to provide our clients with the best possible solutions.”
