QBE named top ‘all-rounder’ in CQIB awards

9 June 2022

The Council of Queensland Insurance Brokers (CQIB) has named QBE the “all-rounder” insurer of the year at its annual awards.

CGU was runner up for the award, which takes into account performance levels of security, range of products, service, claims administration, accounts, communication, price and availability of senior management.

The Peter McCarthy Young Professional of the Year award, sponsored by Vero for 15 years, went to Austbrokers Comsure Insurance Adviser Tanya McGrath. She receives $1000, CQIB Convention registration and a perpetual and personal trophy.

“I am so incredibly honoured,” Ms McGrath said. “To those who supported my application for this award, thank you!”.

Six awards were presented at the event, held at Brisbane’s The Warehouse last week.

360 Underwriting Development Underwriter Erika Gutierrez won the Mick Lambert Barker Award, which recognises a CQIB business partner’s staff member for “service above and beyond”. The award, sponsored by Piranha Insurance Brokers, carries $500 in prize money.

“I am truly speechless and so grateful to be part of the CQIB community. It is a community that has been close to my heart for many years,” Ms Gutierrez said. “An award decided by your peers and community is a little more heartfelt and ever so humbling.”

In other categories, Vero won for claims service, CGU for domestic insurer, and UAA took out the underwriting agency accolade.
