This move is part of the company’s effort to strengthen its internal culture, enhance governance, and increase accountability.

Who is Karen Lonergan?

Lonergan, who brings over 25 years of experience in diverse sectors, is recognised for her leadership in driving people-centric initiatives and fostering engagement within some of Australia’s flagship organisations. Her appointment is critical for implementing PwC’s Action Plan aimed at cultural improvement.

Throughout her career, Lonergan has been instrumental in executing transformative strategies that have prepared large corporations for periods of growth and sustained success, it was stated.

What to expect from PwC’s new CPO

In her new position, Lonergan will spearhead efforts to embed a positive workplace culture into every aspect of the firm’s operations.

Commenting on the appointment, PwC Australia CEO Kevin Burrowes highlighted Lonergan’s track record and the significance of her role at a pivotal time for the firm.

“We are thrilled to welcome Karen to the firm. She has a strong track record of delivering exceptional results at some of Australia’s largest leading companies,” he said. “PwC has taken swift and significant steps to advance its cultural transformation over the last several months, yet we know meaningful change takes time. Karen will be an asset to our leadership team and is the right person to ensure the steps we have taken to date are comprehensively embedded into the fabric of the firm.”
