Public service veteran joins AFCA board

1 August 2022

The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) has appointed outgoing Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) Deputy Chair Delia Rickard to its board.

Ms Rickard has held her position at the ACCC since June 2012 but will move onto AFCA’s board for a three-year role from August 1.

Prior to the ACCC, Ms Rickard held senior roles at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), where she oversaw the development of ASIC’s budget calculator, Moneysmart, and was a member of several consumer protection committees.

In 2011, she was awarded the Public Service Medal for her contribution to consumer protection and financial services.

“AFCA plays a vital role in protecting consumers and in helping the financial services sector deliver the best possible service to its customers,” Ms Rickard said.

“I look forward to contributing to an organisation with such a strong sense of purpose, one that is having a real impact for consumers and the financial services sector.”
