Professional Insurance Agents of Wisconsin (PIAW) honored outstanding achievements in the industry during its annual Engage 2024 convention held on October 16-17 at the Oneida Hotel in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Alyssa Hobgood (pictured center), of BWO Insurance in Oak Creek, was presented with the Ron Von Haden Agent of the Year award, Steve Clements (pictured right), of Clements Insurance Agency in Wausau, received the Stony Steinbach Achievement Award, and Steve Van Sluys (pictured left) of AAA – The Auto Club Group earned the title Company Representative of the Year.

Hobgood is a third-generation independent agent with an impressive career that traverses both the carrier and agency sides of the business. She has actively given back to PIAW through participation on the board, legislative committee, and Young Professionals Insurance Network. She also served as a chairwoman of the Convention Committee and represented the association on Capitol Hill, advocating for key issues facing the industry.

“Alyssa embodies the spirit of this award through her leadership, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to her clients and the insurance community. She is truly a role model for independent agents everywhere,” shared Pete Hanson, PIAW executive director.

Meanwhile, the PIAW board selected Clements as the winner of the Stony Steinbach Achievement Award for his years of dedicated service and advocacy on behalf of independent insurance agents and for his efforts in advancing their interests.

“Steve has demonstrated unwavering dedication and leadership throughout his time with PIAW. His energy, passion, and hard work on behalf of independent agents embody the very qualities that this award was designed to recognize,” said Lacey Endres, PIAW immediate past president.

Finally, Van Sluys was named Company Representative of the Year for his exceptional support of independent agents and extraordinary service to the insurance community. Colleagues praised Van Sluys as accessible, helpful, and prepared to make extra effort on behalf of agents.

His active participation in PIAW events and committees since 2007 has demonstrated his commitment to the organization.

“Steve exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding company representative. His responsiveness, dedication, and ability to build strong relationships with agents make him truly deserving of this honor,” said Hanson. “He’s an asset to our community, and we’re proud to recognize his achievements.”
