Onlia partners with proptech company Perch

Onlia Insurance, a provider of home and auto coverage online, has entered into a partnership with Toronto-based proptech company Perch to provide homebuyers with a one-stop, self-service platform for buying mortgage and home insurance policies.

As a proptech company, Perch offers an online platform where homebuyers can search and apply for affordable mortgages. The partnership brings Onlia’s home and auto insurance products to this platform, allowing homebuyers to shop for a mortgage and home insurance policy in a single checkout.

Additionally, customers who purchase Onlia’s policies on the Perch platform receive a 5% discount on rates.

“Whether you’re a first-time homebuyer or a veteran in the market, purchasing a property is likely the largest single investment a consumer makes – which can be daunting,” said Fleur Dujardin, president of Onlia Insurance. “We are proud to work with Perch to help take the guesswork out of finding a mortgage and insuring a property by providing a quick and easy, all-in-one digital solution.”

“Our services will go hand in hand, helping home buyers and owners find the best home insurance policies and also get a better mortgage offer,” added Alex Leduc, CEO of Perch. “Perch and Onlia both strive to make the home ownership journey as convenient and seamless as possible with an excellent digital experience, so we saw collaborating as a natural fit.”

Onlia’s partnership with Perch comes after it expanded its own digital offerings last year, with employers being given the option to add home and auto insurance to group benefits packages. The move introduced a new group benefits platform where P&C insurance could be purchased and customized online. Sterling Capital Brokers had signed on to offer the group product to its customers and employees.

“Onlia and Sterling Capital Brokers have independently taken complicated and administratively heavy industries and simplified them through a digital customer experience,” said Fernand Vartanian, Onlia’s head of business development, back in June 2021. “We have a shared commitment to customer transparency which made for a natural partnership.”
