The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) and insurers will revisit flood-impacted areas in Central West for a third round of in-person customer meetings, with claims from the November event currently valued at $222 million.

The ICA reported over 14,250 claims lodged since the flood devastated the region. Home property accounted for 6,878 of the total claims, home contents for 4,200, and motor vehicle for 798.

Insurers will hold meetings in Eugowra and Molong in August for residents to discuss their claims with their insurers and work through any issues related to their insurance or insurer.

“The devastation left behind from the floods in Central-West of NSW in November last year continues to be felt,” said ICA CEO Andrew Hall. “Giving insurance customers in regional communities the opportunity to speak to their insurer in-person is vitally important to the recovery process, and insurers continue to visit the region as the recovery continues.”

Meeting schedule

Insurers will hold in-person meetings from 10am to 6pm at the Molong RSL, 22-24 Riddell Street, Molong on 9 August.

A second round of meetings will be held the following day, 10 August, from 10am to 6pm at the Eugowra Bowls & Recreation Club, 5 Hill Street Eugowra.

Policyholders from surrounding areas may also book an appointment.

“The Insurance Council will continue to advocate for greater investment in mitigation and resilience for these communities, including extending buy-back programs for homes that are at extreme risk of future flooding,” Hall said.
