NIBA unveils 2022 award winners

Coulton and Thompson were named winners of NIBA’s Queensland broker awards earlier this year. They competed against winners from other regions to win the Stephen Bell Broker of the Year Award and Warren Tickle Young Broker of the Year Award.

Ian Carr, founder and chairman of Insurance Advisernet, was given the Lex McKeown Trophy, an award conferred to an individual that has made an exceptional contribution to NIBA and the broader broking profession.

NIBA also named the winners of its insurer and underwriting agency awards.

CGU was named the 2022 Large General Insurer of the Year Award. Liberty Specialty Markets was given a newly developed award for niche insurers, the Specialty Insurer of the Year Award. NTI was awarded the 2022 Underwriting Agency of the Year Award.

According to NIBA CEO Philip Kewin, winners of the insurer and underwriting agency awards are determined by broker feedback.

“Brokers are asked in the annual Broker Market Survey, which is conducted by market research firm NielsenIQ, a range of questions about their overall experience across a range of important product and service quality criteria, including brand as well as broker experience,” explained Kewin. “The combination of these results ultimately determines the winner of these two awards. The Underwriting Agency of the Year award is also determined by the annual Broker Market Survey.”

NIBA’s awards recognise the best of broking, underwriting, and insuring in Australia. This year’s winners were announced at a celebration dinner that closed the 2022 NIBA Summit held last Wednesday.
