NFP swoops for transportation MGU

Property and casualty broker NFP has announced the acquisition of Quantum Risk Solutions. The acquisition will expand NFP’s managing general agent/managing general underwriter division and bolster its capabilities in the transportation sector. George Karlis, president of Quantum, will join NFP as part of the deal and report to Tom Gillingham, managing director of MGA/MGU programs.

Quantum is an MGU and wholesaler specializing in the transportation industry, with a focus on auto transporters, towing and collateral recovery, non-emergency EMT, and specialty haulers.

“I’m thrilled to welcome George and the Quantum Risk Solutions team to NFP,” Gillingham said. “Acquiring Quantum aligns with our strategy to expand our MGA/MGU platform and brings sophisticated commercial transportation underwriting capabilities to a space where NFP has a growing retail presence. NFP also gains an experienced underwriting leader in the transportation segment in George Karlis, whose expertise raises the bar for our business.”
