NFP snags new VP for energy and marine

Property-casualty broker NFP has announced the appointment of Seth Michaelson (pictured above) as vice president of energy and marine in the energy practice of the company’s specialty business. The appointment supports the ongoing growth of NFP’s specialty practice, the company said. Michaelson will report to Vilma Vanegas, senior vice president and energy practice leader.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Seth to NFP as we continue to build a team of talented and experienced professionals,” Vanegas said. “Seth’s background working with corporate and middle-market clients, providing insights on mergers and acquisitions, evaluating complicated insurance placements, and navigating complex property and business interruption claims makes him a valued resource to our industry clients.”

Michaelson has more than 13 years of industry experience. He most recently served as managing director at Catto & Catto, a division of Hub International of Texas. Prior to that, he held a variety of brokerage, risk management and business development roles with several companies, including Wortham Insurance and WTW. While his main focus will be energy and marine, Michaelson will also work with NFP’s real estate and construction specialty practices.

“I’m excited to join NFP and work with Vilma and the energy practice team,” Michaelson said. “Risk management in the energy industry is increasingly more challenging, and organizations need a variety of skilled resources to make decisions regarding new and evolving challenges. NFP is a destination for top specialty talent who are truly experts in their respective fields. NFP’s emphasis on specialization and technical broking, and the opportunity to work with an organization whose values align with mine, sets NFP apart as an employer of choice.”
