NFP makes key appointment for North America business

As head of project risk advisory, Canning will focus on providing a range of insurance and analytics tools to support risk management strategies for construction and infrastructure projects in North America. He will collaborate with NFP senior vice president and head of project risk Chris Smith, and they will drive connectivity across the value chain of NFP construction projects, a release said.

“We’re thrilled for Andrew to join the specialty business within NFP,” said Chris Smith. “He brings more than 30 years of experience and a well-earned reputation as a leader who drives innovation and delivers holistic and well-structured solutions to clients.”

Canning joins NFP from Marsh, where he previously served as managing director of the company’s construction team. He also once served as senior vice president at Aon Risk Services, offering his expertise to national and international construction projects. Canning has also held leadership roles at Amoco, Near North Insurance Brokerage and Wrapid Specialty.

“With the increasing complexity stakeholders face in the construction and infrastructure sector – whether it’s inflation, supply chain, ESG or technological transformation – NFP is developing innovative tools and solutions to address these issues,” said NFP construction and infrastructure managing director David Bowcott. “We are investing in people and building an elite project risk advisory and brokerage team to help clients navigate the substantial pipeline of North American construction projects that will flow in the coming years.”

Last month, NFP announced that it partnered with Petline Insurance Company. Through the partnership, NFP can offer its customers in Canada pet health insurance from Petline – a pet health insurance subsidiary of Definity Insurance.
