W.R. Berkley Corporation has announced the appointment of John J. Forte as president of its subsidiary, Berkley Public Entity.

Berkley Public Entity provides casualty insurance and reinsurance for municipalities, counties, school districts, public utilities, special public districts and risk-sharing groups, W.R. Berkley said in a news release.

Forte has more than 20 years of industry experience, with a special focus on the public entity insurance market. He joined Berkley Public Entity in 2018 as senior vice president, chief underwriting officer and chief operating officer.

“John has been instrumental in the growth and development of Berkley Public Entity since he joined the organization,” said W. Robert Berkley Jr., president and CEO of W.R. Berkley Corporation. “He has proven to be a dynamic leader, and we are confident that he will continue to collaborate with the team at Berkley Public Entity as they drive the business forward.”

Forte is the latest addition to W.R. Berkley Corporation’s roster. In August, the company announced the appointment of Lee Iannarone as senior vice president and general counsel.
