MTAA names new chair of motor vehicle insurance CAC

The Motor Trades Association of Australia (MTAA) has appointed Stephen Jenkins as a new representative on the Motor Vehicle Insurance and Repair Industry Code of Conduct Administration Committee (CAC).

The CAC ensures the code of conduct assists insurers and repairers in achieving a balance of fairness in dealings with each other.

Jenkins, who has been the general counsel and company secretary of the Motor Traders’ Association of New South Wales (NSW) since December 2019, has been endorsed by the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) as the new chair of the CAC, replacing outgoing chair Mark Czvitkovits.

Before working with the association, Jenkins spent over three years at Madison Marcus Law Firm, where he was a partner and the head of the intellectual property division responsible for driving the firm’s Western Sydney Strategy. He also spent 23 years at Matthews Folbigg, where he took several senior roles, including director, managing director, and chairman.

Commenting on Czvitkovits’s departure, the CAC said: “The CAC wishes to extend its deep appreciation to Mr Czvitkovits for his contributions to the CAC, as well as for his instrumental role in establishing constructive and productive relationships between the insurance and repair industries.”

The latest appointment follows former MTAA super leader Chris Porter’s entrance to MLC Life Insurance (MLC Life) in February 2022 as its new head of fund partnerships.
