Mayer Brown secures global energy capabilities with latest Singapore addition

International law firm Mayer Brown has announced that energy lawyer Justin Tan has joined its corporate and securities practice in Singapore. He joins the firm from Clyde & Co.

With a strong focus on the energy, infrastructure, and commodities sector, Tan brings two decades of experience in representing multinational corporations, leading Japanese trading houses, Chinese SOEs, and private enterprises on high-profile global energy and infrastructure transactions in the petrochemical and renewable energy space.

“Mayer Brown has a market-leading global energy offering and corporate and securities practice, along with an outstanding team in Singapore and across Asia,” Tan said. “I have been impressed by the firm’s continued growth and sustained investment in the cross-practice capabilities necessary to be a leading global law firm to the energy and infrastructure sectors. Mayer Brown’s client base and platform is highly complementary to my own practice, and I look forward to working with the team in Singapore, where the firm has ambitious plans for growth.”

Tan is the latest in a series of high-profile hires by Mayer Brown in Asia over the past eight months, with eight new partners joining in the firm, six for the corporate and securities practice. These include Hong Kong corporate and securities partner Joanne Du and London project finance partner Myles Mantle, both of whom have an energy focus. Most recently in Singapore, banking and finance partner Soumitro Mukerji joined the firm.

“Justin’s reputation for transactional excellence along with his strong sector experience further deepens our global energy client offering and underscores the continued commitment of our corporate and securities practice to enhance our multi-office synergies in key hubs across the globe, particularly in Asia,” said Kevin Sheridan Jr., who leads Mayer Brown’s global corporate and securities practice.
