London Marathon: Premium Credit execs go the extra mile for Alzheimer’s Society

On the same day Sifan Hassan overcame injury to win the women’s race, Kelvin Kiptum ran the second-fastest time in history and Mo Farah ended his marathon career, two Premium Credit leaders were also running the London Marathon, raising much needed funds for Alzheimer’s Society and Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD).

Premium Credits’ Owen Thomas, Chief Sales Officer and Adam Morghem, Strategy Marketing and Communications Director, took part alongside more than 48,000 runners.

The duo, more accustomed to viewing the City from Premium Credit’s London office, completed the 26.2 mile route and in the process, raised over £12k for Alzheimer’s Society.

Owen commented: “It was an incredible experience running through the capital alongside so many others raising money for good causes. Adam and I aren’t natural born runners, we both have backgrounds in contact sports where our 100kg plus frames are more suited, so this was a huge challenge for us! The support from the crowds was incredible and really lifted us.”

He adds “Raising money for Alzheimer’s Society made it all worthwhile, particularly those long days of training. The Society does amazing work helping those living with this terrible disease, I was so pleased I could get involved. My Grandmother had dementia so I know the impact it has right across families.”

After finishing the Marathon, Adam said: “It was fantastic running through the city I know and love, alongside thousands raising funds for worthy causes and cheered by complete strangers- many of whom stood in the rain for hours, a camaraderie I’ve never experienced on such a large scale. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us.”

Adam adds, “As the chair of Premium Credit’s Sustainability Committee, running the London Marathon and raising charity funds in this way was very special.”

This latest fundraising builds on past support for IUAD where Owen, backed by Premium Credit and partners from across the industry, raised almost £8k by cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
