Lockton Re, the reinsurance arm of the independent brokerage, has announced the hiring of Edward Tyler from rival Gallagher Re, who joins the company in London as a Senior Retrocession and Property Specialty broker.

Tyler has particular expertise in helping clients with their retrocession, London market property and global composite placements and joins Lockton Re after a period on gardening leave since leaving his last position.

He began his career at Willis Re in 2018 as a reinsurance broker in the International arm’s Europe division, before becoming a non-marine retrocession broker in 2020 at the company.

After the Gallagher acquisition of Willis Re, Tyler became a Divisional Director for non-marine retrocession at Gallagher Re.

Matt Foreman, Head of Retrocession and Property Specialty at Lockton Re, commented on the news, “Ed is an excellent addition to our growing team. Ed brings a diversity of thought and experience that will continue to enhance our holistic offering to clients and will support our expanding global presence in the marketplace.

“He shares the Lockton Re client centric ethos and enthusiasm to achieve more for our clients and has arrived at a great time to boost our credentials ahead of another very busy renewal season.”

Lockton Re has expanded the size of its Retrocession & Property Specialty division in recent years, with a number of senior hires from rival broking companies.
