Reinsurance brokerage Lockton Re has announced the upcoming addition of Andy Wakefield (pictured above) as a senior broker in its marine & energy division. Wakefield, who will be based in London, is set to join later this year.

With more than three decades of experience as a marine and energy reinsurance broker, Wakefield currently works at Aon Reinsurance, where he serves on the marine executive committee and leads new business production.

His career began at Tysers, followed by tenures at Benfield (later Aon Benfield) and Willis Re.

Martin Stephenson, head of marine & energy at Lockton Re, highlighted Wakefield’s hiring, which he says aligns with the company’s culture and collaborative working style.

“He has a great reputation in the marine & energy reinsurance market and the team look forward to welcoming him later this year,” Stephenson said. He added that the firm is expanding its capabilities by carefully selecting talent to match its focus on clients, markets, and colleagues.

Jerry Ridge, chairman of the marine & energy division at Lockton Re, also noted that bringing in top market talent like Wakefield demonstrates the division’s strong reputation and culture.

“We could not be happier with the progress we have made as a division, and as a global business, the important work we have undertaken for our clients and the global team we have built of outstanding expertise. We all look forward to working with Andy as we continue to go from strength to strength,” Ridge said.
