Lockton appoints big name for Australia role

Steffensen (pictured) has over 25 years of insurance industry experience across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. Before entering the insurance industry, she was a practicing chartered accountant.

For over two decades, Steffensen has held numerous roles in the insurance industry, including:


A global insurance manager for a multinational healthcare company;
A risk consultant for the federal government’s insurance finance vehicle; and
A broker to private, listed, and not-for-profit organisations.

Most recently, Steffensen was a care solutions practice leader at Marsh, where she created and developed the practice.

Lockton’s newly created role for the health & community services team

At Lockton, Steffensen will be based in Sydney and take on a newly created role leading the Lockton-Zenith health & community services team across the East Coast. She will report to Ian Maybury, the national head of the expanding specialty business.

Lyle Steffensen’s advocacies

Steffensen is highly regarded for her advocacy leadership and advisory in risk management and strategy solutions for health and community services, including aged care, primary healthcare, retirement living, disability, and faith-based community services organisations.

Moreover, Steffensen has a strong passion for social justice, dedicating years of advocating for inclusivity in the corporate workplace and making corporate Australia more accessible for those who are diversified by culture, age, gender, race, religion, or ability. She is currently a member of Women on Boards and Women of Colour Australia (WoCA) and volunteers for not-for-profit organisations, such as StandTall Australia, Wayside Chapel, and Leichhardt Uniting Church.

Steffensen’s appointment follows Lockton Re’s announcement of a new senior broker in its non-marine retrocession and property specialty team in London.
