Amit Khanna (pictured), who has been with Liberty Mutual since 2004, has been appointed as chief claims & service officer for US retail markets (USRM) at Liberty Mutual Insurance.

Effective on March 25, the appointment will see Khanna take charge of the strategic and operational direction of personal lines and small commercial claims as well as customer and agent service organizations.

USRM president Hamid Mirza commented: “Amit’s impact on our organization for the last several years has been significant – he is an empathetic leader with a robust knowledge of our business and the insurance industry overall.

“I am excited to leverage his expertise as we continually evolve and innovate our claims organization to provide superior service to our customers and agents and a high-performing environment for our claims team.”

Khanna most recently served as senior vice president and manager for US property claims. Aside from the claims function, his previous roles span finance, strategy, and analytics.

Offering insights into the breadth of Khanna’s new remit, the company said: “In 2023, these teams of more than 10,000 employees processed more than 1.4 million claims and handled more than 19 million service calls for Liberty Mutual, Safeco, and State Auto customers and agents.”
