LexisNexis Risk Solutions automates No Claims Discount proof for Northern Ireland broker

Hughes Insurance Seeks to Reduce Fraud and Enhance the Customer Journey

Hughes Insurance, a leading insurance broker in Northern Ireland, has signed a new contract with LexisNexis® Risk Solutions, the data, advanced analytics and technology provider to the U.K. insurance market, aiming to automatically verify no claims discounts for motor insurance. The new contract signals a commitment by Hughes Insurance to leverage a greater level of data enrichment and enhance the overall customer journey.

The strategic relationship will allow Hughes Insurance to share and receive data through the No Claims Discount (NCD) Module for LexisNexis® Policy History Motor from LexisNexis Risk Solutions. The contributory database is the first and only NCD database in the market, developed to streamline the quoting and onboarding process for insurance providers and their customers.

When a customer requests a quote from Hughes Insurance – whether online or by phone call – LexisNexis Risk Solutions delivers back instant verification of NCD as a streamlined part of the customer validation workflow. In addition, Hughes Insurance will be able to see if NCD is being used on more than one motor insurance policy.

By contributing to the No Claims Discount Module, Hughes Insurance will also be helping to build the breadth of NCD data for Northern Ireland, which in turn may encourage expansion into the region by insurance providers in the wider insurance community.

Today, over 95 percent of U.K. motor insurance policies use digitised proof of NCD through the No Claims Discount Module, eradicating the need for consumers to provide paper proof. As well as delivering operational efficiencies, reducing paper waste and saving resources, digitised NCD proof helps insurance providers, such as Hughes Insurance, to reduce fraud and improve the customer experience.

Shane McCabe (pictured), insurance strategic account manager, Ireland, LexisNexis Risk Solutions said, “Demanding proof of NCD can not only inconvenience customers but it can also leave insurance providers open to the risk of deliberate misstatements or NCD being applied to multiple covers. A greater level of data enrichment from LexisNexis Risk Solutions will help to reduce such risks and the quote process is made more efficient by using digitised proof. We are pleased to have signed this contract with Hughes Insurance at the start of its data enrichment journey.”

David Robinson, senior trading manager at Hughes Insurance, said: “By instantly verifying NCD at point-of-quote, we can significantly improve our service and highlight potential discrepancies at an early point in the customer journey. We expect the automated process will drive both efficiency and effectiveness, giving us a cutting edge as Hughes Insurance works toward improving and enhancing its digital journey and securing competitive rates for its customers.”
