Lawrie Insurance Group commemorates 40th anniversary with college donation

To mark its 40th year of business, Lawrie Insurance Group is committing $40,000 to provide direct financial support to students within the insurance and business administration programs at Mohawk College.

Company CEO Bob Lawrie announced the donation during a Mohawk College alumni reception; many employees who are themselves alumni of the school were also in attendance.

“For forty years, Lawrie Insurance has remained fiercely independent,” said Lawrie. “We are proud of our talented team, the value we bring to our customers across North America and the trust we have built as a community partner and an industry leader.”

A release said that this relationship between Lawrie Insurance Group and Mohawk College goes as far back as 2007, when the founder and chairman Dan Lawrie made a significant donation to the then-new Mohawk College Centre of Excellence in Insurance and Financial Services.

“We are grateful to Lawrie Insurance for marking this impressive 40-year milestone by generously supporting Mohawk College students,” said Mohawk College president and CEO Ron McKerlie. “Lawrie has been a valued college partner for more than two decades, helping students succeed in the classroom and beyond. This generous announcement will continue that strong tradition for years to come.”

Last year, Lawrie Insurance Group became a “Future Ready Premium Employer” partner of Mohawk College, allowing the company to fund scholarships and offer job positions to graduates. The independent brokerage became a benefactor of the school’s Insurance Founders Lounge. A company representative also sits on Mohawk College’s program advisory committee.
