Law firm seeks Property, Energy & Infrastructure competition ideas

Wotton + Kearney has launched a new Turning Point Competition and is seeking ideas from insurance industry experts to lead “next generation thinking” in Property, Energy & Infrastructure.

It is accepting proposals of 300 words or less until mid-October from which five finalists will be selected to write a 2000-word white paper.

The winner will receive a trip to a key industry event to the value of $10,000, such as the Lillehammer Energy conference in Norway, PICS in London or the Asia Power Forum in Singapore. The four finalists will receive travel vouchers worth $1000.

Property, Energy & Infrastructure Practice Group Leader Adam Chylek says these lines of insurance regularly throw up the most significant and complex risk and policy issues.

“It’s critical to encourage innovative ideas that predict or pre-empt market-defining issues,” he said. “We are throwing out a challenge to the insurance industry’s most creative and progressive thinkers to explore where the market is going and how they see changes in industry and technology impacting these specific insurance sectors.”

The outlines will be judged by Chubb Country President Peter Kelaher, GCube Underwriting CEO Fraser McLachlan and Mr Chylek.

Each finalist will then be paired with a senior lawyer and have nearly five months to co-author a white paper on the nominated topic. These will be assessed by the same judging panel and a winner announced April 19, with all five white papers published and promoted.
