Julie Comer joins BIBA as Head of Compliance

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has appointed Julie Comer as its new Head of Compliance.  Julie joined BIBA on 18 March and will take responsibility for helping BIBA members with their compliance queries and concerns and to help them have a greater understanding of current and coming regulation including via BIBA’s popular Compliance Forums.  She will report to Regulation Director, David Sparkes.

David said: “This is a vital role in BIBA.  Members value our hands-on approach to providing support and guidance on compliance questions as well as remaining focused on the regulatory landscape, fighting their corner as necessary.  I am delighted that Julie, with her recent experience in a BIBA member firm has joined us.”

Julie joined from Lloyd & Whyte where she was Director of Risk & Compliance and has worked in the broking sector all of her career.  Speaking of her appointment, she commented: “As a broker I really appreciated the help and support offered by BIBA.  I know the burden that compliance with regulation places on brokers and I am looking forward to working with members to help them achieve regulatory requirements efficiently. The BIBA team is extremely focused on member needs and I’m excited to now be part it.”

Graeme Trudgill, BIBA CEO concluded: “When I became CEO I promised to invest in members, and one key investment is in regulatory and compliance support.  Appointing Julie with her invaluable experience and knowledge will really benefit members.  She will be a key member of our team.”
