io.insure appoints senior APAC partner

6 February 2023

Insurtech marketplace io.insure has appointed Ian Hutchinson as Senior Partner in Asia-Pacific (APAC).

io.insure and underwriting agency Fusion Specialty – both owned by Pop Holdings – launched Mio merger and acquisition (M&A) insurance last year, designed for businesses considering deals valued at $100 million or less.

Singapore-based Mr Hutchinson will develop strategic partnerships and lead distribution, sales and product development. He was most recently Hyphen Group GM, responsible for the fintech’s Singapore insurance brokerage, and formerly practised as an M&A lawyer.

“io.insure, with its specialist underwriting expertise enabled by data and technology, as well as its highly efficient tech-driven partnership distribution, will go a long way in helping to bring capacity to the underserved small and mid-size business markets here in APAC,” Mr Hutchinson said.

The firm plans to provide a platform for a full suite of specialty products and has several initiatives planned for the region this year, Co-Founders and Executive Partners David Rogers and Killian McDermott say.

“Ian’s expertise in fintech, M&A and insurance will support the significant momentum in our growth,” Mr McDermott said.
