Inver Re hires Gareth Davies as Chairman of Parametric
Inver Re, the Ardonagh Group’s reinsurance broking arm, has added a new leadership position focused on parametric risk transfer, hiring Gareth Davies from Price Forbes as its new Chairman, Parametrics.
Davies has joined Inver Re this month, we understand, and will drive forwards the brokers delivery of parametric weather and catastrophe risk transfer solutions for its clients.
Davies has had a focus on weather derivatives and other parametric forms of natural hazards risk transfer for more than a decade, bringing Inver Re another experienced executive at a time when it continues to expand its team.
As Artemis reported first yesterday, Inver Re has also hired a new Global Head of Index risk transfer products, taking Tom Johansmeyer from PCS for the role in Bermuda.
Davies had an almost 13 year career as a professional rugby player in the UK before joining Ambrian Commodities as a trader of metals, natural resources and mining assets in 2008.
His first move into the insurance and reinsurance industry was with broker RFIB Group, who he joined in 2011 and worked on weather risk transfer, parametrics and natural resources related insurance products, among others.
In 2015, Davies became a Partner at brokerage JLT Specialty, again with a parametric and weather risk transfer focus to the role.
He moved to Tysers in 2018, broking parametrics and credit and political risk insurance, before then moving to Price Forbes to take an Executive Director role again focused on parametric weather and catastrophe risk transfer solutions, as well as other alternative risk products, mining, renewables and credit.
At Inver Re as Chairman, Parametric, Davies will be based in London for the broker.
