Insurer says advisers ‘critical partners’ as distribution heads appointed

17 April 2023

MLC Life Insurance says financial advisers are “critical” to its business and has made new appointments to further strengthen its partnership with the intermediary channel.

Jarrad Wilson and Rob Dassie are taking up roles as Head of Distribution for the Northern Region and Southern Region respectively.

The insurer says their appointments add to an already strong sales leadership team that has more than doubled the business’s new sales market share over the previous year.

Mr Wilson has extensive experience in life insurance sales and managing insurance advice frameworks for large and small licensees, having held leadership roles at Westpac, BT Financial Group and Suncorp Life.

Mr Dassie brings more than 20 years’ experience, including most recently at MLC Wealth as Head of Distribution and Head of Strategy and Enablement, before which he delivered services to financial planners with companies including Colonial, Commonwealth Bank, Aviva and Insignia Financial.

“Financial advisers are critical partners to MLC Life Insurance,” Chief Individual Insurance Officer Michael Rogers said.

“Bringing in top talent ensures we can focus on delivering a total customer experience to our partners.”

MLC Life Insurance GM Distribution Michael Downey says Mr Wilson and Mr Dassie will be a “crucial part” of the insurer’s sales strategy, which is focused on new business growth, building out key partnerships and driving a culture of excellence.

“Our sales team has already doubled our new sales market share, and we are excited for [them] to continue that trajectory,” he said.
