Insurance law firm announces new hires

3 April 2023

Specialist law firm Barry Nilsson (BN) has announced that Toby Biddle will join the firm as a principal as it expands its Sydney operations.

Mr Biddle will join the firm, leaving his current role as head of Life Sciences and Healthcare Practice Australia at Norton Rose Fullbright.

He has been recognised as a key industry figure, receiving several awards as a leading lawyer for product liability litigation, medical negligence and life science.

BN says Mr Biddle’s appointment will be accompanied by several members of his team, including Natalie Aprea and Jessica Luppino as Special Counsel, Cara Walsh as a Senior Associate, Gianluca Tripodi as an Associate, and Maria Hawes as a Legal Assistant.

BN Board Chairman and National Insurance & Health Lead Principal Rhett Kennedy says the hiring comes as part of the firm’s 2025 commitment to national expansion and growth.

“Combined with their expertise in providing representation and advice on individual medical malpractice and healthcare product liability actions, regulatory investigations, inquests, and commissions of inquiry, their experience will significantly strengthen the firm’s capabilities in this high-demand specialist area of law,” Mr Kennedy said.

The announcement follows BN’s recent appointment of five members to its Adelaide-based health and insurance team from Sparke Helmore.
