Insurance companies recognized among Canada's Top 100 Employers for 2023


The winners of Canada’s Top 100 Employers 2023 award by MediaCorp Canada have been announced, and several Canadian insurers have been recognized.

To make the list, employers are evaluated by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers based on eight criteria: workplace; work atmosphere & social; health, financial & family benefits; vacation & time off; employee communications; performance management; training & skills development; and community involvement.

Six insurance and/or insurance-related companies were given the honour for the year ahead. They are (in alphabetical order, listing their highest-scoring criteria):


Desjardins Group – scoring ‘A+’ for community involvement; A for work environment, financial benefits & compensation, health & family-friendly benefits, vacation & personal time-off, training & skills development.

 
Manulife – scoring ‘A+’ for work environment, community involvement; ‘A’ for financial benefits & compensation, health & family-friendly benefits, employee engagement & performance, training & skills development.

 
Medavie Inc. – scoring ‘A+’ for community involvement; ‘A’ for health & family-friendly benefits, employee engagement & performance, training & skills development.

 
Royal Bank of Canada (parent company of RBC Insurance) – scoring ‘A+’ for financial benefits & compensation; ‘A’ for work environment, work atmosphere & communications, employee engagement & performance, training & skills development, community involvement.

 
TD Bank Group (parent company of TD Insurance) – scoring ‘A+’ for financial benefits & compensation, employee engagement & performance, training & skills development, community involvement, ‘A’ for health & family-friendly benefits.

 
Western Financial Group – scoring ‘A’ for employee engagement and performance.

Irshad added that Manulife’s “winning team” is composed of “passionate, curious and supportive people who are not afraid to challenge the status quo.”

According to a statement, applications for the 2024 edition of the Top 100 Employers list will be available in early 2023.
