icare has enhanced its Nominal Insurer Claims Model to improve outcomes for injured workers and employers through the workers’ compensations scheme.

New claims model

The improved Nominal Insurer Claims Model offers more specialist support to injured workers and aims to improve the financial performance of the Nominal Insurer scheme.

The changes are part of icare’s extensive improvement program and follow 2021 feedback from injured workers, businesses, unions, industry groups, service providers, and the community.

“The heart of what we do at icare is to care for the people of NSW. We have implemented this major change to ensure better care and support to injured workers in New South Wales,” said CEO and managing director Richard Harding. “This new combination of capable, competitive, and innovative providers means workers with physical and psychological injuries will receive more early interventions and tailored support when they need it most.”

Tony Wessling, group executive for workers compensation at icare, commented: “Employers will also enjoy a greater element of choice and better options for their injured workers as they recover and return-to-work.”
