IAG reveals composition of NZ executive team

Insurance Australia Group (IAG) has announced the members of its full executive team for New Zealand, rounded out by three appointments.

Paula ter Brake, who was appointed executive general manager distribution, will join in early September. She was most recently  managing director – Pacific and chief risk officer at Tower. Ter Brake has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services and consulting industries, and has worked globally in retail banking, consumer lending and advisory, including a number of years as global mortgage distribution leader for GE Money.

Simon Pomeroy will take on the newly created role of executive general manager customer experience and growth, effective Aug. 1. He was most recently global head of client experience and head of digital for APAC and EMEA at Citibank. Pomeroy is experienced in delivering high-performing customer experiences across several industries and has a solid track record of delivery and success, IAG said. Prior to his time at Citibank, Pomeroy held senior roles with Westpac New Zealand and Air New Zealand.

Wayne Tippet has been named executive general manager claims, effective immediately. He has been acting in this role since December, where he is responsible for leading the claims functions and ensuring the delivery of claims services to its customers and partners. Tippet has been part of IAG since 2014 and has held various claims leadership roles, including executive manager claims operations and executive manager claims performance. Prior to IAG, Tippet held senior roles across the financial services and banking industries.

“As the largest general insurer in New Zealand, our growth strategy is about remaining resolutely customer focused to ensure we are here to protect every Kiwi’s future,” said IAG New Zealand chief executive Amanda Whiting. “We now have the team in place to help us deliver this.”
