Hiscox Re & ILS hires Minesh Shah as Director of Underwriting Risk

Hiscox Re & ILS, the international reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) arm of the Hiscox Group, has announced the hiring of Minesh Shah from Hamilton Re, who joins the firm as its Director of Underwriting Risk.

In the role, Shah will be responsible for both traditional reinsurance portfolios, as well as those backed by third-party investor capital and that are managed through the Hiscox ILS unit.

Shah joins Hiscox Re & ILS on May 1st and will be tasked with driving optimisation across its diverse reinsurance portfolio and those for third-party capital as well.

Shah will be Bermuda, become a member of the Hiscox Re & ILS executive team and will report to Kathleen Reardon, CEO of Hiscox Re & ILS.

Shah has more than 25 years of reinsurance market experience, much of it in Bermuda and London.

He was most recently the Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer at Hamilton Re, where he held responsibility for all aspects of reserving, pricing, and capital modelling.

Before his time at Hamilton Re, Shah worked in senior roles in underwriting risk in Bermuda and London with firms such as Platinum Underwriters, Renaissance Re and XL Catlin.
