HIF teams up with organisation for Indigenous youth

HIF chief marketing leader Liz Lefort said the agreement aligns with the health insurer’s Reconciliation Action Plan Journey and its commitment to supporting causes that are important to its members.

“Binar Futures embodies a brand and culture that values community, family, and connection to culture, an ethos which is mirrored at HIF,” she said. “We also feel the partnership will help us, as an organisation committed to its Reconciliation Action Plan, create an even more inclusive and culturally aware workplace.”

Binar was founded by Midland businessman Adam Desmond in 2011 when he supported a local basketball team of six young Indigenous people. The organisation now supports more than 1,400 young people across Perth in sporting pursuits, education, leadership training, employment, and cultural awareness.

Commenting on the partnership, Desmond said: “I am extremely pleased to now be welcoming HIF to our family and thank them sincerely for supporting our efforts to empower Indigenous youth. This partnership will allow Binar Futures to continue to grow and support young people in need. It will also lead to valuable cultural learnings for HIF staff.”

Binar chairman Andrew Vlahov added that the partnership would enable the two organisations to work together to “build positive futures for Indigenous youth.”

“The partnership is reflective of our intent to make a difference for all involved and will help facilitate a better understanding about how our community can walk together in achieving better reconciliation outcomes,” he said.
